RETHINKING PLASTIC.
EDUCATING THE NEXT GENERATION.

Beyond the Bin is a student-led plastics initiative exploring how we can reduce waste, rethink recycling, and inspire action.

THE PROBLEM

PLASTIC IS EVERYWHERE

From our snacks to our school supplies, plastic is part of daily life. But most of it is used once, and then thrown away - and it doesn't just disappear.

WHY I STARTED

IT STARTED WITH A RICE KRISPIES TREAT.

My family started making Rice Krispies treats eventually selling them at NYC's Butterfield. As we made more treats, I noticed how much plastic packaging we were throwing away. I started wondering what happened to that plastic - and that question led me to TerraCycle and this project.

THE PROJECT

FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION.

Beyond the Bin focuses on three key areas: educating others about plastic, bringing recycling solutions to schools, and inspiring young people to take action.

Learn

I create and share educational resources to help others understand plastic, recycling and its impact

Recycle

I brought TerraCycle to my school to collect hard-to-recycle plastics like snack wrappers.

Share

I talk with younger students and other schools to inspire action and spread what I've learned.
